It was that time of year again - time to get away and spend a weekend with the guys, just like last year. Time for the 230 mile trek up to Dutch Hollow Lake in LaValle, Wisconsin.

It's nice that we've hung out together for all of these years. I was the first to leave the company back in 1998, but the team that we had at that company was solid, and our friendships seemed to have lasted all this time.
I haven't been sleeping well, and this trip didn't help matters. Both nights I was up in the middle of the night, on the deck outside, just looking up at the stars (even trying to take pictures of them with my digital camera). We watched TV (Cubs, you know), went out driving around the place and int town, took the boat out for a spin around the lake, checked out the Harvest Fest at the clubhouse. Oh, and we ate and drank.
We were away from the city, away from the spouses and just... away. Sometimes, even when you're unemployed, you have to decompress. I love these guys. We need to do this a little earlier next year (this was already earlier than last year) so that we have more sunlight, more boat time - probably do some fishing...
This was a nice time.
